8, May 1987 8 IRA volunteers were attempting to deliver a bomb upon the Loughall barracks in Co. Armagh when they were attacked without warning by the SAS and brutally killed. The british fired over 700 rounds of ammunition into the two vehicles carrying the volunteers. They killed all eight volunteers and one civilian on that day. Sadly the british had learned of the attempted ambush and decided to take a shoot to kill policy instead of arrest. It has long been suspected that the information was passed to the brits by a traitor in the Republican ranks. The Active Service Unit killed was one which was still being successful in attacks upon the brits and thus, were no longer convenient to some former "Republicans" who were deciding to go down the political road and had turned their backs on true Republican principles. One volunteer was from Co. Monaghan while the other seven of the brave men were from Tyrone. They were...
