Born in Glenmaddy, County Galway. Joined Gaelic League 1900. Joined Sinn Fein as well as IRB in 1908. Assisted with unloading of the Asgard (1914). Was a member of Supreme Council of IRB. Played a large part in the planning of the Rising. Signatory to Poblacht na H Eirann in 1916. Commanded South Dublin forces during Rising. Was court martialled and shot by the british.
