Born 1879-Died 1944 Poet, songwriter, and Irish Republican. Supported Republicans in the Easter Rising as well as the War of Independance. Was elected as a Sinn Fein councillor in 1921. Was interned by the free state in the Curragh and mountjoy Gaol until his release in 1922. Continued to work for Sinn Fein until he emigrated to America in 1925. Founded the School of Irish Studies in New York. Would later retire and return to Ireland in 1935.
